Seoul - Six-party talks aimed at the dismantling North Korea's nuclear weapons programme will resume in Beijing on September 27, South Korea's cable TV broadcaster MBN reported Thursday. "Preparation is under way on the assumption that the talks will resume on September 27 for three or four days in Beijing," an unidentified diplomatic source was quoted as saying.
"North Korea is not against the new time schedule for the assumption of the talks. Thus, host China will shortly announce it after it finalizes its consultation with other participants," the unnamed source added.
Although the talks had been widely known to resume on September 19, the talks had been postponed to an unspecified date, with no official reason given.
The two Koreas, China, Japan, Russia and the United States are the participants in the nuclear disarmament negotiations that started in 2003.
