KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 19 Jim Thome hit two home runs Wednesday night and Jose Contreras threw a five-hit shutout as the Chicago White Sox rolled past Kansas City, 7-0.

Thome ran his MLB career home run total to 502 and reached 29 for the season. He needs two more homers to tie Eddie Murray for 22nd place on the all-time MLB list.

Jermaine Dye also drove in two runs and Juan Uribe contributed a two-run blast in support of Contreras (10-16), who went the distance for the second time this season. Contreras retired nine of the last 10 batters he faced and reached 10 wins for the third straight year.

Brian Bannister (12-9) took the loss, giving up eight hits and six runs over five innings.

The Royals have dropped 11 out of 14.
