Online search giant Google Inc has added Presentations feature to its Google Docs program. The latest step is being seen as another arrow in Google's quiver to challenge Microsoft's market dominance with its Office software suite.
Google Presentations is being seen as a direct competitor to Microsoft PowerPoint. Presentations can be published by users through the Google Docs interface. Additionally users can also chat as they follow the presentation by using Google Talk.
The Google Presentations feature is available online at http://docs.google.com. It is a part of Google Apps and is included in a previous application known as Google Documents and Spreadsheets.
Google is offering an online alternative to Microsoft's Office software and to this end has now introduced Documents, Spreadsheets and most recently the Presentations feature.
"From student groups to sales teams, people are turning to the web for help improving both personal and group productivity," said Sam Schillace, director of engineering, Google Docs. "Putting documents in the cloud surrounded by easy to use features for collaboration and sharing can save people hours of inefficiency and frustration and even enable new ways of working together."
Using Google Presentations, users can also import existing presentations to this feature. The feature is available in 25 languages including English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish, Czech, Ukrainian, Hungarian, Turkish, Polish, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, Dutch, Traditional and Simplified Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, and Indonesian, Google announced.
