Las Vegas, Nevada - Former American football star OJ Simpson was arrested Sunday by Las Vegas police in connection with an alleged armed robbery in a casino hotel room. He was booked on suspicion of one count of robbery with a deadly weapon.
Las Vegas authorities were expected to hold a press conference Sunday evening to discuss the case including Simpson's arrest.
The alleged robbery involved sports memorabilia taken from a room at the Palace Station Casino. Simpson had been questioned Friday by police, who said at the time that he was cooperating.
The alleged victim, a sports memorabilia dealer, had reported a robbery at gunpoint involving Simpson and three other men.
Simpson's double-murder trial over the 1994 stabbings of ex-wife Nicole Simpson Brown and her friend Ron Goldman became a worldwide spectacle. He was acquitted in 1995 in the criminal trial but later held found financial liable for their deaths in a lawsuit two years later.
Simpson's arrest was the second in the case.
Earlier Saturday, Walter Alexander, 47, was arrested on suspicion of robbery with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy and burglary with use of deadly weapon, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported, citing Clark County jail records.
