San Francisco - Former American football star OJ Simpson was questioned by police in Las Vegas Friday in connection with an armed robbery reported at a hotel casino, police said. The alleged robbery involved sports memorabilia taken from a room at the Palace Station Casino. Simpson was cooperating with the investigation, Las Vegas police Captain James Dillon said at a press conference.

Dillon said the victim had reported an "armed robbery" at his room by four people shortly before 8pm Thursday night, though police had not yet recovered any weapons.

"The victim stated that one of the suspects involved in the robbery was OJ Simpson," Dillon said, but added that Simpson was not in police custody.

Simpson's 1995 trial over the murder of ex-wife Nicole Simpson Brown and her friend Ron Goldman became a worldwide spectacle. He was found not guilty in the criminal trial but held accountable in a civil court two years later.
