Tokyo - Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced on Wednesday that he will resign as premier. The 52-year-old premier decided to step down after a year in office.
During his premiership, Abe's cabinet has been plagued by scandals and calls for his resignation had been mounting.
