Electronic Arts has announced that the popular game Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars will soon be available on the Xbox 360. EA appears to be pumping for real-time strategy genre on Xbox. These kinds of games were limited due to the restrictions of the standard console controller and hence many developers were often ignoring this sector.
The people behind C&C were also involved in the creation of Battle for Middle-earth II; so exciting times are ahead for real-time strategy enthusiasts. EA has also announced that it will make extensive use of the Xbox Live marketplace to ensure a "steady stream of content" for fans.
“The Command & Conquer series finally makes its return to the console after seven years,” said Mike Verdu, executive producer at EALA. “C&C 3 will help expand the RTS genre on the Xbox 360, building off of the foundation laid by the development of The Lord of the Rings, The Battle for Middle-earth II. EA is evolving the console controls so that strategy gaming plays and feels native to the platform.”
The command and Conquer series last appeared on consoles in 1999.However RTS genre has been more conducive to the PC environment as it has an effective keyboard and mouse.
Command & Conquer 3 is slated to hit markets next year.
