KFC or Kentucky Fried Chicken, the famous chicken restaurant chain, has changed its logo. The logo now shows Colonel Sanders, the founder of KFC, in a chef's red apron instead of his old white suit jacket.

The new logo is an attempt to bring out the real persona of Colonel Sanders. He was a real person who was an excellent cook and innovative entrepreneur. The new logo goes with the times with bright colors.

The Colonel stands against a red background which matches his apron with KFC appearing in black under his chin. He still sports his trademark classic tie, glasses and goatee. The logo has changed only once in the last 10 years and is also only the fourth change in 50 years.

The new restaurants of the chain in the US will sport a whole new look with warm colors, open glass windows and a digital jukebox that a customers can select music from and hear free. The stores will also have new graphics with signs of KFC and also those reading “Finger Lickin' Good” and “11 Secret Herbs and Recipes”, which refers to the Colonel's secret recipe.

The logo and graphics will be updated on all new restaurants over a period of 12 months. Television ads will screen the new logo from January. Yum Brands Inc, which is the parent company of KFC, also plans to introduce the new logo in its international restaurants, especially in China where it does booming business.

The Kentucky Fried Chicken is Colonel Sander's own creation and was introduced by him at his own restaurant in 1939. His restaurant then developed into a chain of chicken eateries. He sold the company in 1964 but by then he had earned iconic status due to numerous commercials and personal appearances he had made for the chain almost till his death at the age of 90.

The company had stopped using the name of its most famous recipe due to the changed health preferences of people but has again started advertising the Kentucky Fried Chicken but with a change.

KFC is going all out to promote its new logo and has built a giant 87,000 square-foot version of the logo which is visible from space.
