The Grammy-winning 'Real Slim Shady' rapper Eminem has signed a deal with talent agency International Creative Management (ICM) to star in a Paramount Pictures film called 'Have Gun, Will Travel'.
In the film, the 34-year-old rapper will play a professional gunfighter Palladin.
Have Gun, Will Travel is the big-screen adaptation of a TV western that aired in the 1950s. In the TV show, the role that Eminem will play was played by Richard Boone.
Eminem, who signed the deal through his production firm Interscope/Shady/Aftermath Films, might also contributed to the film's soundtrack, sources said. The shooting of the film will take place in Detroit, where the rapper was brought up.
This would be Eminem's second film with the first being his autobiographical
8 Mile, which won him an Academy Award and a Golden Globe nomination for the song
Lose Yourself. Though Eminem won accolades for his acting prowess, he had expressed no interest in pursuing a career in Hollywood.
As if to reinforce that decision, the rapper refused a US$8-million offer to act in the sci-fi thriller
Jumper alongside Samuel L Jackson recently. The ICM deal, however, signals a change of mind on Eminem's part. The deal is yet to be confirmed by the rapper or his PR machinery.
