Rolle, Switzerland - Infiniti will launch its new EX crossover in Europe next year as part of a four model-strategy with which the Nissan subsidiary is targeting the European markets. The EX is based on the study unveiled at the New York Motor Show earlier this year and measures 4.63 metres with a height of 1.59 metres. It is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 motor with and output of 213 kW/290 hp, the company announced.
In the United States the EX goes on sale at the end of this year, the company said.
Among the new technical innovations is a special scratch shield paint coating that repairs itself and is immune to small scratches because it is mixed with a highly-elastic resin.
The EXwill also be the first vehicle fitted with an All View Monitor (AVM) camera system to monitor the entire spectrum around the vehicle, Infiniti said at its European headquarters in Rolle.
Other standard items are L-shaped BiXenon headlights in the double-arched front grille, a hard drive navigation system with 10 gigabyte storage capacity for map and music data, a sound system, speed and distance control.
The rear is fitted with a high-mounted spoiler and has chrome- finished dual exhaust pipe.
Together with the EX, Infiniti is planning four models for the European market. The G saloon and G coupe will compete against the BMW 3-Series segment. A successor to theFX 4x4 is also planned for 2008. A replacement for the M-series will compete against the Audi A6 with a diesel V6 power unit in the planning.
