CONCORD, N.H., Sept. 4 U.S. Sen. John McCain fielded questions on everything from his age to his position on gay rights during a visit Tuesday to a New Hampshire high school.
While the students at Concord High School asked tough questions, McCain, R-Ariz., and a Republican presidential candidate, gave them some tough answers, CNN reported.
"Do you ever worry that like you might die in office or get Alzheimer's or some other disease that might affect your judgment?" one student asked after reminding McCain that if he is elected he will be older than Ronald Reagan.
McCain responded by saying he plans to campaign longer and harder than any of his younger rivals.
The senator was briefly stumped by another student's question about "LGBT" rights, needing a reminder that the initials stand for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans-gendered.
When McCain finished answering that he opposes gay marriage and supports the current military "Don't ask, don't tell" policy, the student, William Sleaster, said, "I came here looking to see a good leader. I don't." That got him a dressing down from officials at his school.
