TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 31 Two University of South Florida students from Egypt were indicted Friday on charges of transporting explosives across state lines.
Ahmed Abdellatif Sherif Mohamed and Youssef Samir Megahed were being held in Berkeley County in South Carolina. They were arrested Aug. 4 after being stopped for speeding in Goose Creek, S.C., the Department of Justice said.
The case was heard by a federal grand jury in Tampa. Mohamed was charged with providing instruction in the making of explosive devices, and with transportation of explosives.
Mohamed was a civil engineering graduate student and teaching assistant at the university. Megahed was studying engineering.
Bail has been set at $500,000 for Mohamed and $300,000 for Megahed.
