DETROIT, Aug. 31 Chrysler said Friday it had closed four U.S. assembly plants because of a power train component problem.
The car maker said three of the plants -- Jefferson North in Detroit, Warren Truck and Newark Assembly --- already were scheduled for shutdowns next week. The other plant, in St. Louis North, is expected to re-open Tuesday, the Detroit Free-Press reported.
Chrysler said no cars were on the road with the power train issue problem.
