San Francisco - An internet romance between a Filipino woman and a US man ended in tragedy when the woman was swept to her death during a marriage proposal overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The incident occurred last Saturday at a remote Oregon beach, where couples have traditionally walked to a place called Proposal Rock to offer their hands in marriage. Scott Napper, 45, met 22-year-old Leafil Alforque over the internet and dated her for two years. They planned to get married on December 6. She had arrived in the US three days earlier and they went to the scenic landmark so that Napper could formally propose and give her the ring, according to a report in the Oregonian. But seconds before the planned proposal, Alforque was swept into the frigid waters by a rogue wave, and rescuers were unable to retrieve her. Her body has still not been recovered. Napper said he plans to return to the fatal spot on Saturday - the couple's planned wedding day - to say a prayer and put on his ring. "I still close my eyes and see her reaching out to me," he said.
