BUFFALO, N.Y., Jan. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- National Airlines, a wholly owned subsidiary of National Air Cargo, announced today it delivered humanitarian aid to Haiti on behalf of the Belgian and Swiss governments. Two planes, each containing around 65 thousand tons of aid, departed at approximately 5:00 pm EST on Friday, January 15th. One departed from Zurich, Switzerland and the other from Ostend, Belgium.
The company was able to mobilize aircraft to assist in earthquake relief efforts within 2-hours of finalizing the agreements. With standard freight forwarders it often takes around 12 hours to mobilize large cargo airplanes.
"These kinds of relief flights are consistent with our company mission of not only supporting our regular customers, but also utilizing our expertise in critical situations to aid humanitarian efforts," stated Preston Murray, President of National Airlines.
According to a Reuter's article, "The 30-tonne cargo (from the Swiss government) includes specialized kits to help treat the wounded and a kit sufficient to cover the basic health needs of 20,000 people over a period of three months."

National Airlines is able to shorten mobilization and delivery time compared to other freight forwarders because it owns a fleet of planes, as opposed to subcontracting planes.
