LOS ANGELES - (Business Wire) In a joint announcement today, Japan Airlines International (“JAL”) and Ansett Aircraft Spares & Services (“Ansett”) have signed an Inventory Management Agreement under which JAL will relocate parts inventories to Ansett for marketing through Ansett's global sales and distribution network.
This multi-year agreement encompasses rotable and expendable parts and components covering all aircraft systems for B747 aircraft which retired from JAL's fleet in 2009. Ansett, which is headquartered in Los Angeles will stock inventory at its full service Sales & Distribution Centers in Los Angeles, London and Melbourne.
Commenting on the agreement, Shigeru Nagatomi, Vice President - Material & Component Management, Maintenance Planning & Administration Office, said, “JAL had been working with Ansett in developing a comprehensive Managed Inventory Program to sell our excess inventory.” The executive added, “The outcome is that together we have developed a prominent program that, among other attributes, enables JAL to market disused inventories efficiently throughout Ansett's far-reaching network.”
