LUBBOCK, Texas - (Business Wire) Cap*Rock Winery heads back to auction: “Unfortunately the high bidder of the live public auction that was held on Monday, July 12th - Laurent Gruet, of the Gruet Winery - has notified me of his inability to meet the contractual obligations to complete the transaction,” said Cap*Rock Winery Trustee, Max R. Tarbox. “Cap*Rock Winery is an attractive, fully-operational property and is a prime investment opportunity. Because this is a trustee sale we thought it to be in the best interest of the property and the community to hold a second auction.”

Tulsa, Oklahoma-based Williams & Williams Worldwide Real Estate Auction, the premier brand in real estate auctions, will provide the unique opportunity to acquire the 23,000 +/- square foot wine-making and crushing facility on 10 +/- acres in the Texas High Plains American Viticultural Area, just south of Lubbock. Interested buyers are invited to submit sealed bids to Williams & Williams by Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010.

The established winery, winner of over 500 awards and producer of multiple varieties of wine enjoyed by enthusiasts across the country, includes premier wine-making equipment, bulk and bottled wine, crushing contracts and equipment that includes furnishings, supplies, and office equipment. With its Southwestern Mission style architecture, Cap*Rock Winery is also a destination venue and generates additional income by hosting weddings, corporate and other social events.

Built in 1992, Cap*Rock Winery houses top-of-the-line wine-making equipment from the U.S. and abroad. The facility includes Willmes Presses, Schenk Filtration Systems, an Omess Diatomaceous Earth Filter, Paul Mueller stainless steel open top fermenters with full refrigeration jackets in separate white and red fermentation rooms, a barrel room, laboratories and a kitchen, as well as a visitor center and office space. The winery produces a few thousand cases annually from locally grown grapes, and has the capacity to expand from 40,000 to 80,000 cases a year. Award-winning vintages include Viognier, Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Merlot.
