White Plains, NY (PRWEB) November 30, 2009 -- The Business Council of Westchester today announced Keating Electric & Technologies as the winner of its Small Business Marketing Makeover Contest. Michael Keating, president, Keating Electric & Technologies, will receive a complete marketing makeover valued at $50,000, consisting of products/services provided by Marketing Communications Council (MCC) members. Contest sponsors include Country Bank and the Westchester County Business Journal.
The MCC put out a call for entries to Business Council members in August 2009. The contest was open to Business Council members with less than 30 employees. Applicants were considered based on years in business, sales history, viability and marketability of product/service, and community involvement.
A panel of MCC judges reviewed the entries and narrowed them down to three candidates. The three candidates gave a 45-minute presentation to the judges who then determined the contest winner and two runners-up. The two runners-up, Richard Stytzer, Antun’s of Westchester Catering, Elmsford, NY and Robert Cioffi, Progressive Computing Inc., Yonkers, NY were selected to receive two hours of complimentary consultation with MCC members.

Established in 1988, Keating Electric & Technologies is a full-service electrical contractor providing service to residential and commercial clients. Michael Keating started the company solo with one van and has since grown to 13 employees. The company currently derives its revenue from residential and commercial clients and would like to continue to expand its residential base. There has been minimal marketing in place and the company has grown largely by word-of-mouth.
According to Keating, “Many clients view electrical work as a commodity. We recognize that our marketing efforts must address this issue and determine our point of difference. This makeover is one of the greatest opportunities to come our way and I expect that it will change the way we do business permanently, provide clear objectives, and bring us to a new level of business operations.”
“Keating is a business with tremendous teamwork and drive, which has enabled them to stay afloat during these difficult economic times," said Stacey Cohen, Chair, Marketing Communications Council and president, Co-Communications, Inc. "In keeping with our goal of giving back to the Westchester business community, this makeover will provide Keating the tools to build a highly successful business."
