Los Angeles - Talk show host Elle DeGeneres announced her resignation Thursday from the American Idol judging panel.
DeGeneres said the position was taking up too much time and that she hadn't felt comfortable criticizing contestants.
DeGeneres' move leaves the top-rated entertainment show on US
television without two of its most prominent personalities, after
Simon Cowell also quit the show at the end of last season.
DeGeneres only joined the show last year to replace Paula Abdul, but said that the "work schedule was more than I bargained for."
