Bangkok Saturday to participate in demonstrations aimed at forcing the Thai government to resign and call new elections. In Wang Noi in Ayutthaya province, more than 50,000 demonstrators had gathered Saturday, witnesses said, and more vehicles carrying demonstrators continued to flood in all day en route to the capital for a mass protest to kick off Sunday.
Wang Noi, about 90 kilometres north of the capital, is a major meeting point for protestors travelling from the northern and north-eastern regions of Thailand.
The United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), also known as the red shirts for their colour preference, has threatened to summon 1 million protestors to the Thai capital this weekend to bring down the government.
