Kiev - A passenger jet operated by the Hungarian airline Wizz Air overshot a runway in the Ukrainian capital Kiev Wednesday, the Interfax news agency reported. All passengers and crew exited the plane without injury.

Officials at Kiev's Boryspil airport said snow and ice on the runway contributed to the incident early Wednesday, according to the report.

All departures and landings have been cancelled at Boryspil until the runway is cleared, airport officials said.

Severe winter weather struck Ukraine on Monday evening, dumping as much as 40 centimetres of snow at some locations by Tuesday morning.

Snowfall continued throughout Tuesday, snarling road traffic and delaying trains at some locations.
