Hamburg - Mario Gomez ended a 15-game goal drought for
Germany by scoring four goals in a 7-2 defeat of the
United Arab Emirates in a friendly international in
Dubai Tuesday. The striker, moving from VfB Stuttgart to
Bayern Munich for a Bundesliga record of 30 million euros (43 million dollars), broke his duck stretching to 830 minutes whe he tapped in Germany's third in the 35th minute.
Two more goals followed either side of the break and he completed the scoring in stoppage time.
Heiko Westermann and Piotr Trochowski were also on target, with Faris Juma scoring an own goal, while Ismael Salem and Nawaf Mubarak bagged the home side's goals.
France slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Nigeria in St Etienne, Joseph Akpala scoring the winner in the 32nd minute.
Turkey were 2-0 winners over Azerbaijan, Germany's next opponents in World Cup qualifiers, thanks to second-half goals in Kayseri from Halil Altintop and Ibrahim Uzulmez.
France play Turkey in Lyon on Friday, while Nigeria meet
Kenya in a World Cup qualifier in Abuja on Sunday.
Elsewhere, Oman and South Korea played out a goalless draw.
